Threads of Connection

Very excited to have my work ‘Rombald’s Stride and other stories III’ selected for this month long online exhibition with Cista arts.

‘Rombald’s Stride and other stories’ is one of a series of multi-layer screenprints exploring the geological and anthropological histories of the Yorkshire Moors. Polygonal shapes depict enclosed land, boundaries and fragments of wild places. Millstone flags have been laid across the moors, protecting the peat bogs but also predetermining where we can journey. The saw marks made when the flags were quarried read like text, telling untold stories of the stones and the moors. The flags come from abandoned Victorian textile mills, the undersides worn smooth by worker’s clogs.

I’m hoping to make more work based on the images of these flagstones and spent several hours on Rombald’s Moor yesterday taking photographs to inform future works.
