Book Binding Workshop

I attended a book binding workshop @leedsprintworkshop this week run by the very talented @kirstiewilliamsprint. We learnt how to make a booklet using pamphlet stitch, and how to add a hardback cover to that. We also learnt how to make a concertina book, this was also made with a hard cover and, how to fold a ‘fancy concertina book’. This looks a bit like the fortune cookie paper folds you might have made as a child.

However, I think my favourite has to be the stab binding. I like the relative simplicity of this method and the fact you can clearly see how the book is made. It could also be the answer to a problem I’ve been mulling over for many months about how I might incorporate my One Hundred Points on a Line linocuts into a book.

Lots of inspiration and lots of food for thought.
