OPO Open 2026

Really excited to have my work, ‘Accumulation‘ selected to be part of this open exhibition in Scarborough. I attended the opening day on Saturday 14 February and was really impressed with both the artworks on display and how the whole show had been curated. I was particularly pleased with how my work was displayed. Being 18m long by 96cm wide I was amazed that it had been selected in the first place, and even more pleased with how it has been hung. It also works really well with the other pieces in the space, especially the two black ceramic works. I have to admit I was tempted to roll it out further along the floor (its not all on show), but maybe that just retains a bit of mystery and adds to the very sculptural nature of the work. Much more so than if it had simply been rolled out along the floor, which I would also have been happy with.

The details: Accumulation, 18m x 96cm black and white digital print showing images of flagstones laid on the peat bogs of Ilkley Moor to prevent footpath erosion. The textures in the stones show either the whirls and eddies of the seabed in which these gritstone slabs were formed, or the saw marks from when they were quarried, looking like asemic text.
